This place has gotten really good reviews & I've been wanting to check it out for awhile. Relatives are in town, so we went for a 9pm dinner Sat night. Very friendly service & I really liked our waiter. It ended there. Bread was very average with 4 small pats of butter. A plate was dropped off with no real explanation - looked closely & it looked like a styrofoam box of those raw pre-sliced mushrooms had been dumped on a plate & served. There was some olive oil & lemon, but I really don't understand the point of these - and I like mushrooms! We split an artichoke salad - no discernable artichoke taste whatsoever & that same oil & lemon & some cheese. Returned it as again, there was no point or flavor, other than the dressing, to this dish.
I had the veal alla griglia (or something similiar). 2 had the halibut & & 4th was so unforgettable, I forgot it! Mass confusion when dishes delivered - although we tried to help them, I think the asst waiter put the wrong dish twice in front of each of each before we finally switched them ourselves. I had a huge pile of mushrooms & onions on my plate, a few roasted potatoes & a few vegs. After much digging under the shrooms, I came up with 2 small strips of grainy veal. Sauce was boring & over-salted & I didn't bother trying to each much. It was obvious this dish was not a hit whatsoever, but after returning the salad, didn't want to appear a total crank. The 2 halibut servings were actually quite large - 1 had 2 medium pieces & the other 3 - I think it was the end of the night & we were the recipients of what would have to be thrown out. Which is ok if it actually shouldn't have needed to be thrown out already. Halibut had no flavor other than old fish, mushy outside, undercooked middle - really sad.
Hit of the evening was 2 bottles of Sonoma Cutrer for $32 each.
