New Zealand’s Moa Brewing Company has set up the pirate Bar of Arrrr! at America’s Cup Park during the America’s Cup series.

It’s also available at other the Cup’s other venues, and I had a chance to try Moa Methode at the pop-up Waiheke Island Yacht Club, America's Cup Pavilion.
Methode is fermented and conditioned in the bottle. Quite a vigorous bead on pouring, and the fine-grained bubbles lasted a long time. Fruity, citrus-tinged and scented with bread dough yeastiness, the influence of the Champagne yeasts was quite apparent to me. Not much in the way of bitterness, this light-bodied quaff was very refreshing with a clean, crisp finish and paired well with raw oysters.

With the caveat that I don’t drink much beer, this was very different than any beer I’ve tried before and I liked it very much. There doesn’t seem to be much on the board about Moa and I wanted to solicit opinions of this and other offerings.
