I have two questions, only remotely related. First, one of our days in Paris we will take a daytrip to Normandy by car. I want to leave our return time to Paris open, so no reservations that night. Thus, what is the best restaurant, bistro, etc. where I might have a shot at getting a table at the last minute, on a Thursday night? Well be going to Violon DIngres, Guy Savoy and Lucas Carton on other nights. On this night I dont care about location or number of stars. I just want to know where I might realistically get in at 9 or 10 at night for a quality meal.
Second question: I know its controversial, but Ive quite enjoyed Lami Louis in the past. However, given our other plans, on this occasion I would prefer not to pay three-star prices for this type of food. Are there any other Parisian bistros that somewhat duplicate the Lami Louis experience in terms of the type of food big slabs of foie gras, beautiful roast chickens, huge roasts? There may be many, but I just havent found them. Thanks in advance.
