Just wanted to drop a repeat note about Dimple's Manhattan branch - had very satisfying vegetarian lunch today - soothing and gingery dahi (curd) rice, masala dhokla (cornbread-resembling squares of steamed chickpea flour bread, topped with fried spices and coriander leaves and fresh chiles) and patra (rolled leaves with chickpea flour, quite spicy). Lots of dishes on the a al carte menu; I havent begun to work may way through them. Nice folks. Masala dosai respectable - I thought it and accompanying sambhar and coconut chutney compared favorably with Mavalli Palace rendition - but the range of brunchy items (chaat, do on the menu is so great that I will not be tempted back to the masala dosa soon. 30th between 5th and 6th, north side.
