We are having another couple over for dinner next Wednesday. The main course is set due to special request: stuffed "canneloni" (savory crepes filled with ground pork/beef/bechamel and baked in bechamel/cream sauce). What are some of your suggestions for accompaniments? I was thinking just a salad, since the main course is so rich. Any specific types of salad, since salads are where I lose all my cooking creativity?
Also, I don't think I'm doing appetizers, since there will only be 4 of us. I think I may just have some nuts out to nibble with a cocktail. Is there anything easy that you think would also work?
Finally, for dessert, there is this great artisinal gelateria nearby that I know our friends haven't tried yet, so I was thinking of getting some gelato and serving it alongside either: a fruit tart or individual pudding cakes. What do you think? I'm open to other suggestions.
Thanks in advance,
