New cajun/homestyle spot at 6541 Hollywood Bl., set back in off the street. In a word: lackluster.

In a charming, homey, redecorated old house, the owners have opted for very dark lighting and blaring music. (Homey and hip? Trying for both and succeeding at neither.)

But the food is the real disappointment--and the prices are high. Our rack of baby back ribs ($28) arrived lukewarm. I like sweetness in my bbq sauce but this was cloying. The pasta in the mac and cheese side dish ($10) was overcooked and oversauced in gloppy cheese. Our (imported) beers were $6 each.

Service was-ah-eclectic.

In short: just like your cajun grandma's, except for the food, service and loud music.

With one glass of wine, appetizer or salad, entree and dessert, expect to pay north of $100.
