William Sonoma has a new thermometer for sale. If I'm reading it correctly, you insert the probe before cooking, and a thin cord runs out of the oven and connects to a read-out that sits on the counter.
But this one also has a pager that will alert you up to 100 feet away.
So, if I understand correctly, I can put my roast in the Weber grill, place the probe into the meat and set the read-out next to it, then go back inside out of the 100* heat of Washington, D.C., enjoy my evening cocktail, read the paper, watch the news, and I will AUTOMATICALLY be beeped when the pork roast hits 135*. That is definitely worth $45.
Has anyone tried one? My question is, will it work through a wall from the outside to the inside?
