Good World Bar is on Orchard just below Canal. It's an odd kind of a place - a cozy bar with Swedish food. Anyway, I went to this place a few nights ago. It was packed. Despite this fact, service was efficient and fast.
I ordered, along with my friend, the appetizers for two, sort of like Swedish tapas. I have a hatred for all things mayo-ish and creamy, and there were plenty of such things drizzled about. However, I did find a tasty, untainted square of gravlax and some delicious grilled salmon (I would find this salmon and order it again if I return.) The piece de resistance, however, was a huge bowl of sweet smoked shrimp. And do I mean huge. My friend and I were literally eating these shrimp for twenty minutes. We could not finish them. The plate also included a piece of cheese, rye crackers and some other things I couldn't make out (it was dark and I was eating shrimp)
I ordered the "Good World" cocktail made with Absolut and elderberries, which tasted medicinal.
I also ordered a potato pancake - which was extremely thin and crispy - with lumpfish caviar. The pancake was tasty and large, but there was only one. If I had not had the endless shrimp beforehand, I might have been annoyed, but as it was I just enjoyed the pancake. The roe made my teeth turn green, however, as my friend took pains to point out to me.
The mirrors in the bathroom are angled so that you get to watch yourself using the facilities (if you are female)
In short, I would highly recommend Good World for a first or second date early in the week, when it is said to be not as crowded, or for a group situation when some people want to eat and some don't. The prices were reasonable - 30 for the appetizers for two, but you can get a bowl of shrimp alone for 10. My pancake was also 10.
