Mastros report (long)

After a few martini's at the Regent Bev Hills, I got a craving for a nice steak. The weather was pleasant so we walked over to Mastros. Despite the place being very crowded & not having reservations, we were seated upstairs before I could even order a drink.
For continuity, we started (& continued) with the "Mastros Martini" basically a cosmo, but with dry ice at the bottom so the whole drink bubbles & smokes, pretty cool. Letting the booze do the ordering, we proceeded to get a full Maine lobster, petite filet, creamed corn & spinach. The lobster & veggies were great, but the steak was of the best I have eaten in a while...cooked perfectly to med-rare w/ a nice char on the outside, it was like butter. Service was very attentive. Everything was top-notch except the other diners...we were surrounded by a mostly young-wannabe-look at me-hipster crowd. Most seemed more interested in looking cool than having a nice meal. Luckily, the gallon of martini's in my gullet made it bearable...just had a good laugh and enjoyed the surf 'n' turf.
