Dined there this week. Located on Canon in the former Chasen's (relocated) space. This is an out post of a Scottsdale restaurant chain. Not a bad decor. Downstairs is more sedate, upstairs includes a bar, music and balcony. Very busy popular place.
Have to give it high points for the food over all, although there are some sudden valleys.
Martini - there is some law of physics that says the more you pay for a Martini, the lower the quality. I believe it was something around $13. The law of physics held true.
Stone Crabs (ex South Floridian that I am, had to try) - pretty, cold, nice mustard sauce, no flavor in the crab meat. Sad.
Bone in rib eye, 22 ounces. (They buy from Harvey). Rare. Fantastic. Plate could not have been hotter.
Recommend sides of: shoe string potatoes, onion rings, creamed spinach, wasabi mashed potatoes (got to try everyone's sides).
Chocolate ice cream - enormous serving for $7. Wonderful.
Service was typical of "brand new hot restaurant", which is to say a crew that is well intended but probably a year away from the high efficiency that only a long time of working together can provide. Our party of 5 sat down at the table prepared for us. The host came back and asked 2 of the party to move their chairs to other parts of the table, so waiters could get through. H'm. Lots of little bumpy moments.
Over all, I would suggest letting these new steak houses settle into a routine. Once that happens, Mastro's understands what folks look for in a steak house and delivers. Now if they only had snow on the roof like Clearmans ...
