Martha's Vineyard 2015 questions: restaurants, farmstands, Jamaican food, foraging

Greetings MV hounds! I’m heading to the island with friends next week and thought I’d do a little advance scouting. I’ve looked over archived threads and consulted a few other resources, but I’m hoping to get some more recent takes on a few questions.

We’re staying down-island so I’m most interested in general recommendations there, especially Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven, but I’d also love to hear about anything especially delicious anywhere – we’ll be there for two weeks so we’ll have time to drive around.

My girlfriend and I ate at Red Cat in Oak Bluffs two years ago and loved it; it looks like the menu hasn’t changed much (at least on the website) but is the food and bar still at the same level? That’s a semi-splurge for us; we’ve also had good luck with the MV Chowder Company for straightforward sandwiches, seafood, etc. What other places in that range are good this year?

For a blow-out dinner, friends had a great time at Chilmark Tavern last year; still as good? My sense is that State Road and Beach Plum Inn are in a similar class – is that accurate and which are your favorites (and why)? Any other similar places worth looking at?

We’ll be cooking a lot so we’ll certainly hit the West Tisbury farmer’s market a few times, but are there farmstands that come particularly recommended? Any standouts for fresh corn? Any favorite sources for local meats?

Jamaican/Caribbean food: I know there’s a substantial Caribbean population on the island – are there any great restaurants for this food? I saw an article from 2013 about Deon Thomas cooking at the Oak Bluffs VFW – is that still happening and is it worth trying? We had a nice lunch at the ag fair last year from a Jamaican stand – is that affiliated with a restaurant or truck?

Foraging: when I was a kid we used to pick blueberries somewhere along State Road between Chilmark and Aquinnah; I don’t expect foragers to give up their secrets (although at the time it was far from secret), but is it even worth looking for anything like this? I get psyched just to find a handful of raspberries so I’m not expecting a bounty, mostly just curious.

Thanks for any and all responses and I’ll add to this thread as we eat our way up the island.
