Marmont 222

Kevin | Mar 15, 2004 10:20 AM

I wanted to post this just because I was so pleasantly surprised by my experience. I'm not one to be in Old City at all, and I really thought I was going to be disappointed...

Stopped by Marmont at about 9 on Saturday. Really nice atmosphere, very chic. Friendly and efficient service too. I had fried calamari to start, and a NY strip w/ au poevre. My friend had a petit filet w/ a horseradish cream sauce. (I think Marmont leans toward being a steak house of sorts.)

Not the most adventurous of menus at all, but I have to admit the meal surpassed my expectations. The calamari was excellent, very flaky w/ a spicy red sauce. The steaks were spectacular- seasoned and prepared just right. Portions were substantial.

At about 10 the drinking crowd appeared en force and we made a quick exit. Wouldn't go back so late on a Saturday again by any means, but for $85 total for app, entrees, and a few drinks, it's really not a bad deal.
