Just revisited Maria's in Brentwood -- earlier I wrote I enjoyed the pizza somewhat, but now I find it mediocre. The crispiness was nice, the sauce decent, cheese mediocre. But this time I got sausage and eggplant, and the eggplant was breaded in plain crumbs and not sauteed/ fried in olive oil, which is nice, but baked for what must have been about 10 seconds, devoid of any oil, and tasted almost raw. It wasn't remotely palatable. And the sausage was very bland. And the server assured me this is the way it is served.
Though I'm still new to LA, so far for pizza on the west side I still like Johnnie's the best. But still have many of your other recommendations to try.
