Mannado - New sushi buffet in Annandale

Mannado just opened in the Giant shopping center in Annandale. We went Saturday night. It looked promising, bright, open design, plentiful buffet tables.

The result can be summed up in one word: BAD! Just bad, bad, bad. It was even worse than Todai in Fairfax. We keep trying to find a good replacement for Appetizers Plus (which we thought was good, not outstanding), but our best option is the rotary sushi bar at Matuba, which is a bit of a drive from our home.

We didn't get sick, but the fish just wasn't right. Nice cuts of fish (well cut, not-too-skimpy pieces), but it was kind of salty, and the flavor just wasn't there. At a place like this, I can usually be contented with a variety of rolls, but these too disappointed. The rolls, of which they had an impressive, albeit not terribly diverse, variety, had clearly been left out too long. Almost every single one I tried was dried out. Yummmmm.

I wish I could say something positive. Well, actually, I can. The sherbet was very good. Sadly, it was the highlight of the meal. They have a small chest freezer out of which you scoop your own rainbow sherbet. The lime and orange were delicious, as far as commercially produced sherbet goes.
