Mandu Redux

WLA | Oct 29, 2004 09:45 AM

I picked up another couple of bags of frozen mandu from Hwang Hae Do, (see link to previous review for address info, etc.) this week. I got another one of the beef and vegetable ones and this time they had the squash filled so I got one bag of those.

We pan fried both types last night and, once again, they were fantastic. We have tried many different brands of frozen gyoza and mandu from a variety of Japanese and Korean markets over the years and none have even come within a mile of being as good as the ones we make at home, unitl now. Even my wife, who is one tough food critic and has almost nothing good to say about most restaurants, or food in general, gave them high marks.

Do yourself a favor if you like mandu and are near to any of their several locations around the greater LA area. Stop in and grab a bag or two out of their freezer and give them a try. My wife and I are now firmly addicted to the mandu from Hwang Hae Do.
