Sherry Khan has won the Manchester "Curry Championship" several times over the past few years for their chicken tikka masala. About a year ago I raved about it on several boards as the best I have ever had which includes a serious sampling of both Manchester and London restaurants (Zaika, Vama, Chutney Mary's, Star of India, etc.). Jeremy, in a post below, remembered one of my posts and stopped in the Wilmslow road location and felt, as I do, that it was the best he's ever had.
They publish the recipe.
They sell the bottled marinade and the bottled sauce.
They have a website.
I do not know if the bottled sauce and marinade will produce nearly as good of a taste. For one thing I do not have a tandoor but I do have a charcoal grill. I've ordered a case of each directly from their main office and I'll post on here the results when I get them. They're shipping to me in the U. S. so this might be a while. In the meantime their website notes that they have recently started selling a line of bottled sauces in several London department stores as well as several stores in Manchester. They're also expanding the number of restaurants which now is up to, I believe, five.
This could all be bad since bottled versions of famous restaurants' food never lives up to the original (i.e. Vong, Emeril's, Robuchon, Rick Bayless, etc.). Still, for someone in the states who is tikka masala deprived this could be very interesting and perhaps a reasonable facsimile. I was told by their main office that they are presently attending a food show in Birmingham and have printed recipe cards for the tikka masala which they are distributing there. They are also sending me one.
For anyone who is interested their website is below.
