Mama Mexico

I searched the index, and didn't see this place
mentioned, so I thought I'd share.

Mama Mexico is on 102nd and Bway; from the outside, it
looks kinda garish, the sort of place where "Mexican
food" means fried glop with melted cheese. This is NOT
the case however.

You can get tex-mex style stuff there, but you can also
get food like Carpa Cochimilco, which is not carp but
some other fish (I just forgot the English....) with
sun dried tomatoes, olives, and a bunch of other stuff,
or you can get marinated lamb chops, or (one of the
frequent specials) steak with cactus sauce.

They also have good margaritas.

The service, while not exactly world-class

The atmosphere is loud. Most nights there is a
strolling guitarist, some nights a mariachi band.
Also, if it's a birthday, the table usually gets free

All in all, a fun place for some good food, at
reasonable prices, in an area that needs all the
restaurants it can get
