Machaca--what's the proper proportion?

What are the proper proportions of shredded beef to egg in machaca? All the hole in the wall Mexican places I've been to load it up with more beef to egg ratio. I recently went to another one that had more egg to beef, to the point where it was like scrambled eggs studded with shredded beef. Was this an acceptable machaca or was this place trying to save money by using more egg (cheaper) than beef?
