Not a Lovely Day

Iron Frank | Oct 30, 2002 09:29 PM

I ate a very lackluster lunch at Lovely Day, a new asian noodle shop on Elizabeth St. today. The 9 dollar, three-piece lunch set included a stale iceberg salad with a sad carrot dresssing and two bland vegetarian dumplings, that were in desperate need of ginger and soysauce, as appetizers. The entree of the trio was a plate of hobo noodles, a pile of overcooked greasy, glop.

The sesame chicken salad was downright awful, dried out chicken with a splash of soy sauce and no sesame. Tom Yum was acceptable.

It seems the place was conceived from more of an interior designer's idea of a nostalgic dining ambience than with a food lover's notion of creating deliciousness. Avoid.
