So, I was forced to find a place in Round Rock to eat in order to have dinner with my sibling. I searched through google maps and found the Louisiana Longhorn Cafe - a cajun place downtown. Being half cajun French myself, I am real damn picky about cajun restaurants.
Everyone enjoyed their meals immensely. The owners are present in the retaurant (Husband working the back, wife working the hosting station). Bartender was real nice and made us some special drinks (with some on the house). Two reasons to definitely visit: 1) the seafood gumbo is up there with the best I've had at a restaurant in Austin. Not too thick, great roux toastiness, and a good backbone of rich seafood stock; 2) Their homemade key lime pie was the best I have ever tasted PERIOD. And that's saying something! Other good dishes were the etoufee, the fried crawfish tails, and the bread pudding w/bourbon sauce. Unfortunately, two people at our table ordered CFS, so I didn't get to try anything else. The CFS was the size of a frisbee, and it had cream gravy all over it - I didn't try that.
So, go get some gumbo, a beer, and some key lime pie.
