Legend has it that Giotto proved his skill to an emissary of the Pope by drawing freehand a perfect circle.
As a cook I'm no Giotto: the proof is that my tortillas never come out anywhere near circular. They're elliptical; they have lobes; they're often heart-shaped.
Are there any techniques for improving the roundness of tortillas? I know I could use more dough than the recipe says, roll them to 7" diameter and cut them out with a 6" saucepan cover. But that would be cheating. Just as Giotto didn't use a compass, I'd like to be able to do better freehand.
