I'm really surprised not to find discussion of Lonzo's Bakery in Culver City here. For the longest time it's been a to-me not terribly interesting bakery; lots of gluten-free offerings for example and if you're a gluten-lover this isn't all that desirable of a specification.
However recently-ish they've changed, really completely. They're now offering Peruvian food in the front of their bakery, really with zero atmosphere and slightly pricey numbers for the look of the place. But the food we ate was exceptionally tasty. I'm no expert on Peruvian food so I cannot say how it stacks up "properly". But from an absolute perspective, it was just really, really delicious. I'd call this an unbelievable sleeper-find, personally.
So … therefore, I'm really surprised that all these snuffling WLA hounds haven't something to say on the subject. I think this new venue has been open a year or so so it's not all that new… could y'all really have missed this? Or am I just not using the weird new filters on this site correctly; perhaps there's been a long discussion of this I just missed?
If not, I would love to read the opinions of veteran food-reviewers. I just thought this food was mega-lish. So to speak.
I haven't more specifics to offer at the moment but we're returning this evening so I'll try to be a little more articulate in follow-up….
