(London) Tapas Brindisi

A visiting American friend and I had a terrific lunch here yesterday before a stroll around Borough Market. She deserved a lot of food after a tough week of work in The City. Luckily, we were there about noon when there were some tables still available, and we sat at the window which made for good people-watching. By 12:15, there was nary a table free, so my advice would be to get there early, early... same for dinner.

Our food included the large plate of meats. I should have asked for a menu to take with, but I didn't. My favorite was the chorizio but all three meats made me feel like booking the next plane to Spain. The large plate is served with a rustic bread and olive oil for dipping. We also had a spinach salad with onions and pine nuts, warm chickpeas with bacon, and my friend also had a bowl of soup. Other dishes I saw at nearby tables looked equally delicious.

We had to leave room for dessert which came after a visit to the new Wellcome Collection near Euston. We should have had dessert at the Market.

The bill at Brindisi came to about £24. I noticed they do a nice breakfast from 9-11 on Saturdays and perhaps Friday, too. The choices seem to cost about £5 or £6.
