New Lok Kee

scarey | Feb 22, 2003 03:04 PM

When I heard that Sun Lok Kee was open in Queens i rejoiced (!) having just moved to Jackson Heights I was pretty excited to have my favorite scallops in black bean sauce near(ish) by.
I went and it was pretty good. Not as good, but pretty good. I went again, same thing.
This last weekend I went a third time (always willing to give a favortite a few chances) and it was pretty horrible, i know some people had been saying it was going downhill, but I held out hope. I mean I really held out hope.
The scallops in black bean sauce were ok but nothing great.
The Salt and pepper squid which was also great in manhattan was disgusting. It was super greasy with none of the usual salty deliciousness. i was more than sad. The sauteed watercress was also nothing special. I used to like the way they came in a big pool of half broth/half garlicy oil. There was no pool, and no flavor either.
I guess it's time to move on.
