Help with Local Beers...

OliverB | Apr 25, 2012 06:26 PM

My girlfriend's brother is a beer aficionado. He's from California. She asked me to bring home two or three bottles of the most interesting local or regional beers from Quebec that he might be unfamiliar with, or that he would be unlikely to have sampled out on the West Coast.

I don't drink much beer and when I do, it's always at one of our microbreweries on nights out with friends. I'm really not that accustomed to what's available and what would be considered "interesting" to a beer fan. The only time I'll go out of my way to buy beer is when I'm having a BBQ or clambake, and then it'll usually be a German beer like George Schneider's Wiessen Edel-Weisse, or a premium IPA like Deschutes Brewery's Red Chair or Sierra Nevada Pale Ale to pair with food. I'll maybe do this two or three times every summer. I'm really more of a whisky and cocktails guy.

Anyways, could anyone please suggest a couple of bottles that I could pick up locally and with relative ease, that might seem "interesting" to someone who's never visited the city, but has traveled the world sampling beers and will go out of his way and even plan trips around visits to breweries for beer tastings?
