Local apricots, wild blueberries?

MichaelB | Aug 18, 2003 02:23 PM

More produce watch: has anyone seen local fresh apricots at a farmer's market or farmstand recently? I got some last week from the Keown Orchards stand at the Central Sq. farmer's market, and they actually had flavor, unlike the cotton balls from California I've seen at most supermarkets. I was all set to get a bunch and make Jeffrey Steingarten's apricot conserve. But alas, they didn't have any today and the seller was pretty sure they were done for the season. But perhaps someone else is growing them??

Also, does anyone have a line on wild blueberries? I've seen them at Wilson's Farms, but they are fairly exorbitant. Still, I may break down and get them as a treat. But if anyone has seen them at farmer's markets it would be great to know about.

Thanks in advance.
