Thank you Boston Hounds for pointing me toward Lizzy's. It has to be the best ice cream place I've ever been to. We happenned to derive by, and I saw this small place with a line out the door. I remembered seeing some posts about Lizzy's, which I hadn't read yet and said let's try it.

We've now tried the Ginger, Chocolate Chip, Coconut, Chocolate Orgy, White Pistachio. All were outstanding, although I do prefer the Macapauno coconut at Mitchell's in SF and the coconut at Tango Gelato also in SF.

The ice cream is luxuriously creamy and leaves your mouth coated with richness long after you've finished. The flavors are really intense. The ginger was very gingery with lots of chunks of candied ginger in a vanilla base; the Choclate Chip was really chocolate chunk with chunks of very high quality semi-sweet chocolate; the Chocolate Orgy was a base of very good chocolate filled with tiny chocolate chips, add jimmies and you have a real orgy of chocolate textures and flavors. The White Pistachio almost had more pistachio than ice cream. It was vanilla absolutely loaded with whole pistachios. The Coconut was filled with chunks of coconut and had a very good coconut milk flavor.

Last night we had some of their Vanilla with homemade blueberry pie, and it really compemented the pie extremely well.

Lizzy's has knocked Emac and Bolio, JP Licks, and Mitchell's off their pedestal as my favorite ice cream emporium. The only place that I think can play on the same field with them is Tango Gelato.
