Have encountered great yet all quite different lobster rolls in the last week or so. Black Pearl in Wharf area of Newport, RI was quite a lot spicier and in a good way than many of the simpler mayo and lobster mixes. Nice pub atmosphere and enjoyed seat at the bar and a pint. Gilbert's on Commercial in Portland, ME was definitely a locals hangout, a little on the grubby side, but the portions were generous and they have an especially good bun. The lobster roll at The Lobster Pot in Cape Porpoise, ME was the most expensive but it was just delicious, served in a big barn-like room, and did come with really good fries. FINALLY got to Red's Eats at the bridge in Wicasset, ME and absolutely do "get" what all the fuss is about. It is just a shack, you eat on lawn furniture, but the fresh lobster with melted butter on toasty roll is just pure heaven.
