Passing through Marina this morning, I stopped at the Grocery Outlet. I've found some wine bargains here in the past and spotted another one today. The 2002 Lindeman's Bin 75 Riesling was $4.99, about $3-$4 less than usual retail. I bought one to try to make sure it's not damaged goods, and it's in fine shape.
The nose is a bit sudued and less flowery than expected, but comes on stronger on the palate with tangerine, lime zest, and a bit of mint. It almost reminds me of a mojito. There's a slight bitterness, like grapefruit pith, that made me wish there were a bit of residual sugar to round it out instead of finishing so dry and crisp. It's also ever so slightly hot with 12.5% alcohol. But it's quite enjoyable with refreshing acidity and pleasant fruitiness, a solid 84-point wine. Quite a deal at $4.99, and maybe at full-price, although I'd tend to buy the higher quality Leasingham at that price point.
