Went there last week. There were six of us. It was a Tuesday and we had 7pm reservations for a party of six. The place was empty but they wouldn't even seat five of us at our table until the sixth person arrived, at which point we were told we could go to our table once we'd settled the bar bill. We were given menus but no bread. We all had appetizers, caeser salad, spinach salad, crab cakes. The caeser salad was a joke of about five uncut romaine leaves on a plate. No anchovy flavor at all. The spinach salads came with a big wad of breaded goat cheese that looked like a super ball. Friends who had it said it was soggy and greasy. Crab cakes were heavy and greasy. Now, on to the mains, and the most eggregious price gouging I've seen. Your steak, for $30 and up, comes plain, as in completely unadorned, not even a basil leaf, carrot swirl or something to give an appetizing appearance. We all ordered filet mignons which looked like little brown - - - in the middle of our white plates. ugh. The gouging comes when the waiter asks how we'd like our steaks prepared, with peppercorns, with foie gras, blackened??? Each of these preparations is an additional expense - anywhere from five to eighteen dollars - five dollars extra to put pepper on my steak?? Thw meat was well cooked and flavorful, so that's a plus. The sides, asparagus and greens that we ordered, again as an add-on, are neither good nor sharing size in the case of the asparagus. The topper comes at dessert when two desserts are brought to us, neither of which we've ordered, but both show up on the bill. A bill of $500 for six of us. We each had one drink. Ouch. Never again. Take me to chop night at Granita anytime.
