Despite living blocks from Lilly's could not remember why I have not patronized the restaurant in years. After dinner tonight, I now know exactly why. Mediocre would be generous. Rack of lamb was gamey (would have been happier with the frozen kind from Trader-Js) and I'm positive that Vons or Ralph's carry a better grade than Lilly's rib-eye steak. On a positive note, the filet was actually edible.
In retrospect, it is probably our own fault for ordering steak/meat in a French restaurant. While the odd French restaurant in the U.S. may serve an okay steak, the majority are lacklustre.
