Liguria Bakery - Christmas Panettone!

Rochelle McCune | Dec 11, 200211:08 AM     36

Last year, I was extremely bitter because Grace Ann Walden praised Liguria's panettone in her column without telling them first. The results were that they did not have a chance to schedule baking more and, by the time I got there, the line was two blocks long and they sold out before I got my panettone which is quite rare, usually it takes them a few days to sell out. Sure, GAW can print anything she wants but it was complete stupidity not to give them a heads-up. Add it to the long list of crimes against the Bay Area food scene committed by the Chronicle.

Anyway, I have been waiting quietly for this year's batch. When I checked, I discovered that they would be baking their panettone on Wednesday, December 11th. So this morning, I rushed over and got my Liguria Christmas Panettone! Hurray! There was just the normal lines. Fresh, lovely 1 pound panettone in a loaf or round for $4.50. Yeehaw, that's even cheaper than the cruddy, old cardboard box panettone from Cost Plus and its a heck of a lot better. I love it when quality and value come in one package.

I highly recommend it. An especially nice breakfast item is a slice of panettone, lightly toasted and slathered with whipped marscapone! Yummy. (Hummm, I think I deserve one right now).
