OK, so I'm 10 days late posting about this October 21 Letter to the Editor, but considering some of us had complained about the OUTRAGEOUS prices at Taste of DC, I thought it was relevant at some point.
And a perfect reason for why I won't patronize this over-priced thing (the Taste of Bethesda prices were not quite as high, but still high enough).
You want more bang for your buck, attend the Taste of Wheaton instead (or Silver Spring, if they have it)...
"My wife & I enjoyed the ambience and music of the Taste of DC, but we bought our lunch at a nearby restaurant and carried it to Pennsylvania Avenue.
Who are they kidding at the Taste of DC!? $4.80 for french fries!? Six bucks for a slice of pizza?? Nearly $10 for a gyro, $2.40 for a soda and $6 for a small cup of draft beer?! What is the reason for such a huge markup on normal prices?
Apparently, the vendors all agreed on the strategy. Everyone had a 100% or more markup on what I would have expected.
