Lesser-known Middle Eastern food finds

Bride of the Juggler | Jun 27, 2002 09:03 AM

Today's article in the City Paper on Middle Eastern restaurants covers the well-known ones most people already know about. So it got me thinking about other, lesser known Middle Eastern restaurants in the area with great food, such as:

Persian Grill
637 Germantown Pike
Lafayette Hill, PA 19444
It looks like a diner but serves great authentic Persian appetizers and main courses. Many entrees come with rice with the traditional rice crisp made from the rice at the bottom of the bowl.

Rana Middle Eastern Cuisine
3513 Lancaster Ave.
A falafel joint that shares its space with a burger/wings place, they have a couple stand-out treats: the cucumber yogurt salad (more of a soup) and the huge homemade baklava.

1823 Sansom St.
They call themselves a kebob house, but I love the appetizer spreads. When we were last there they had a special of strawberry mango soup that was so perfect for summer.

Any others we should know about?
