I just landed my first job post graduate school and I'm finally making big boy money. I'm looking to reward myself with a piece of cookware and wanted to get the opinions of some of the copper hounds on CH.
I found a freshly retinned 32 cm hammered copper saute pan that seems to be in pristine condition. It weighs 14.25 pounds.
The seller is located in France and has around 30 reviews. They are asking around 900 with shipping. I think I'm can talk them down to 800ish.
I'm wondering what you think of the price as well as the condition of what looks to be a "double stamp." I thought it prudent to get some opinions before I buy what is sure to be my most expensive piece of cookware.
I read a recent(ish) post about fake dehillerin stamps and haven't ever seen a double striking like this before.
I have a 28cm Falk rondeau that I use several times a week. I also have 2 vintage tinned 2mm Williams Sonoma gratins that I snagged on Craigslist for pretty cheap a few years ago. This would be my first tinned copper that would see the stove top.
