There are a lot of new barbecue places popping up in New York City, but as a former Texan I know they can't compare to the real deal! I'm coming to Austin for four days next week and would love to sample some of Austin's finest barbecue offerings. I read the extensive report below from jerseyguy2000 ("Austin-area barbecue excursion") where he traveled to Taylor, Elgin, Lockhart and Driftwood in search of great bbq. The only place within Austin that he listed was Ruby's, and he didn't seem to think too much of it. Do I need to travel out of Austin to find some wonderful barbecue? Anything in the city that I shouldn't miss? Thanks, hounds!
