Having only been here before for lunch, decided to stop for dinner last Tues. on our way up to Sacramento. Being in a mood to celebrate we cast aside our usual PC dining habits.
Lady PB ordered the Veal Picatta, white veal with a rich buttery caper sauce that she proclaimed as maybe the best she's ever had. After trading plates half way through I had to agree.
I ordered one of the specials, Chilean Sea Bass with Crab Meuniere. Two nice size filets, perfectly cooked with a wonderfully rich sauce. I also ordered a cup of the day's soup, Lentil with Beef and Mushrooms, that we shared, a nice deep flavor, perfect on a cool evening.
The wine list appeared to be adequate, we just tried two by the glass, a Sauvignon Blanc and a Chard, both from Ch. Ste. Michelle, IIRC.
The portions were quite ample and more than filling, probably due to the two rich items we selected. Total bill for two entrees, one cup of soup and two glasses of wine was around $80, excl. tip. Service was excellent.
There were 5-6 specials that evening, can only recall the two other fish dishes, Halibut with some sort of dried tomato sauce, and a swordfish steak stuffed with crab, shrimp and swiss cheese.
Le Bistro is tucked away just west of I-5 at the Benjamin Holt exit on the north side behind a gas station. Turn right at the MacDonalds then right again into the second driveway back toward the freeway.
Reservations recommended, they were doing a brisk business around 7:30 pm on a Tuesday. Weblink below.
