Latkes in Manhattan?

Tarz | Dec 6, 2004 08:48 PM

I've always loved a good potato pancake, and with Hanukkah starting up, I thought it might be a good time to ask, what do people see as the best (or better) latkes around? I'm willing to go anywhere.

I find the latkes at the Second Avenue Deli to be too thick, and a little too deep-fried feeling. The latkes at Artie's deli, on the UWS, I actually like--they're good and thin, but not great. Barney Greengrass makes good potato pancakes. I've never had Katz's, but they look a little soggy there. But really, is there a place to get some thin, oniony, crispy but also soft latkes? Or anything you think is good for a latke?

Thanks a lot.
T.
