Lafitte's Landing + Brigstens + Others -Very Long

ReBob | Oct 31, 200408:30 PM

We will be in Lafayette for a wedding on Nov 19. Then, after eating all the po boys at Old Tyme Grocery and all the boudin at One Stop (or whatever that stop is), we will visit New Orleans.

My wife mentioned that her birthday will occur on the first day headed back home (I knew that). And, she pointed out that this would also be our first day on the trip without family.

She suggested dining and staying at Lafitte's Landing. We had a wonderful meal there three years ago, but stayed elsewhere. The website shows it still to be in across the Sunshine bridge in Donaldsonville. However, several posts on this board suggest otherwise.

What is the current status for Lafitte's Landing?

And, if the B&B is separated from the restaurant, what other places might you suggest for a lovely romantic B&B with outstanding food. We will be driving back to Western KY. Thus, Louisiana or Mississippi (Natchez, Vicksburg, or Jackson) works.

As long as you are reading this, after the wedding in Lafayette, we are treating our son and wife to free baby sitting in New Orleans while they go out. Last time (in the pre-baby days), we took them to Dragos and to Bayona. Both were outstanding.

We want them to have a lovely meal with a real New Orleans feeling. I suggested Friday night at Commanders and Saturday morning for breakfast at Brennans. They can take the street car out to Commanders (part of the New Orleans feeling).

Comments? Suggestions?

For the next evening, we are taking other family members out to Brigstens. We have never been. It sounds wonderful on the board--outstanding food and comfortable (that is, not stuffy).

We have not been to your part of the world in three years. Had a trip last year and had to cancel.

Looking forward to your advice. Especially in finding a romantic B&B with gourmet food.

Thanks much.
