Strolling around the Italian Market on Saturday, we happened upon La Lupe- which I had only heard of, knew its neighborhood but not its specific location (right next to Geno's). Quite hungry, and not necessarily satisfied with Taqueria Veracruzana 2 weeks ago, we went in and had a nice lunch. Started with spicy salsa and chips, i had a chicken taco (very flavorful chicken), my friend has a spicy pork one (which looked great). We had the tamale roja - red, with roasted pork. It was pretty good. And then I had the roast pork chalupa (fun to say that word, seriously) which was delish and the chorizo burrito that my boyfriend had was really quite good. Downsides? the grumpy waiter. Otherwise, I would say that it was excellent. Really.
