Late in August we'll be celebrating my grandmother's 90th birthday in Vegas. (She LOVES Vegas and has a tendency to pull royal flushes on poker machines!) I already have reservations at Delmonico and DB Brasserie for the two nights that my husband and I will be with my dad, stepmom and grandmother. Stepmom didn't want any restaurant repeats from any of her recent visits, so that eliminated Commander's Palace even though I think grandma would love it. Delmonico has long been on my "must try" list so I'm thrilled we're going there. And husband and I had a superb lunch at DB back in May and we're hoping the dinner is just as wonderful.
Husband and I are staying for two additional nights after the folks return to LA. I'm also trying for "no repeats" for our dinners. We really like N9ne but have been there twice in the last 18 months, and anticipate returning to N9ne in November, so we'll skip it this time. We've been to SeaBlue three times within the last year. Also eliminated due to repeat and other factors: Bradley Ogden, CP, Craftsteak, Emeril's, Aureole, Mon Ami Gabi, Charlie Palmer Steak (is that still open?), Circo, Olives, anything with Pinot in the name, and probably Rosemary's.
Husband doesn't like Thai food so sadly I still won't be sampling LOS. We enjoy Mesa Grill but we prefer it for lunch. We had breakfast at Bouchon in May and actually chose DB over Bouchon for one of the family dinners. We'll be trying Burger Bar for lunch, hopefully. Maybe lunch at Cafe Babareeba, not sure, but definitely not dinner.
So - I booked FIX for one of the two remaining dinners but have a question: I'm mid-40's and husband is mid-50's. We know how to dress appropriately for dinner in Vegas. Will we be comfortable at FIX? We are very comfortable at N9ne, for comparison sake.
Oh, and we don't want to spend an absolute fortune, so that eliminates Alex, Picasso, Prime, and I'm sure others.
The remaining dinner to be booked is a Friday night. And we will have a car. Help, please! Thanks!
