A couple of years ago, we went to the summer solstice festival in Fremont, a burb of seattle. We got a tip, trecked up the hill, to this little hole in the wall place called Paseo I believe. They only have maybe 4 items on the menu, and variations on them, but the claim to fame is a pork sandwich the likes of which I have never tasted before or since.
Pork loin I believe, you get a meaty grilled piece that has been marinating in a citrus-y, vinegary concoction for probably a day if not two, charred but tender, bursting with juice, on a toasted sub roll with pickled crunchy white onions, and I think a smear of mayo and maybe a lettuce leaf. The pork/onion combo is incredible, due primarily to the long soak in the wonderful marinade.
Has anyone eaten this sandwich and then found something similar in LA? I would love to re-live that experience!
