no kids eat like crazy food tour of New York

Ashly | Sep 7, 2005 06:19 PM

So my husband and I are going to NY for our annual "no kids eat like crazy food tour of New York" and I need help with the following things:

1. Indian food - I hear mixed reviews about Devi. We will probably do indian for lunch, not dinner. Last year, we walked around "Curry Hill" and everything looked scary, so I need a specific rec. I prefer traditional homestyle indian to any healthy or fusion.

2. After theater - we are seeing Ave. Q and looking for something fun for after. We will be dressed in theater clothes, so somewhere where we won't be overdressed. (I might insert a comment here about how tourists dress for the theater...or don't... but I will save that for a different message board.) Someone told me that DB Bistro is the place to go post-theater... any thoughts?

3. Turkish food - ? People tell me that NY has great turkish food, so where should we go?

4. Any other restaurants we MUST try? We prefer neighborhood restaurants to tourist traps and celebrity chefs.

We are planning on going to some regular haunts - Piccolo Angolo(meatballs, house wine & chocolate cake), Barney Greengrass (lox), every hot dog stand in town....

Can't wait to get back to my favorite city!!!!!
Will report when we get back.
