Arrived lunch time Monday. Ordered pick up from Whole Food Provisions on Mass Ave. Got a design-your-own bowl. Loved it. Fresh, great, ingredients to make interesting combos. Big variety of amazing-sounding sauces. Cool, clean sparse space.
Dinner at Pagu. Spanish-Japanese fusion that is just delicious. Pork belly bao - spongy, fresh bao, thinly-coated, Asian bbq sauce. Also got tempura brussel sprouts - lightly fried, yet charred too. Very, very, good. Great wines. Service picked up after I asked about all the teeny tiny pug heads on the menu, and the pug figurines next to the leg of jamon iberico. Pagu means Pug in Japanese. I have a pug.
Tuesday. 2nd time at The Smoke House was everything I had hoped it would be. Three people: 2 pit boss platters. Tried it all! Brisket? Yup! Wings? Sure. But meh. Ribs? YUP! Burnt ends? Little nuggets of meat candy. Still haven't fallen in love with any of the sides yet. Maybe the cornbread?
