Kelly's Burgers (SF Mission)

I checked out Kelly’s Burgers the other day, which just opened on 16th St between Valencia and Guerrero. Their menu consists of (drumroll please) mostly hamburgers (including a Texas burger which comes with a fried egg.) They also have chilidogs and sandwiches.

There were only a couple of other people in there (noon on Saturday). The staff was friendly. It’s an order at the counter and they bring it to your seat kind of place. That tall dude who used to work Truly Med. down the block was behind the grill and apparently owns the place.

I got a Jack burger. It comes with fries ‘n’ all the fixin’s. The burger was good, all the ingredients were fresh, and the meat was good. Also, they give you Mayo in a little cup on the side, which is puts a smile on my face since throughout the course of my life whenever I’ve ordered something “light on the mayonnaise” it has been totally misinterpreted.

The burger was not exactly cooked to my medium rare specification, it was more a medium with occasional thoughts of being medium well. I was lucky enough to notice the fine print on the menu that said that all burgers are cooked to well done unless otherwise specified, thank goodness. I mean thank goodness I saw it, not that that’s their practice. Perhaps they should serve the fries frozen unless you specify? But they don’t, they are properly cooked, pretty tasty and are of the thick cut steak-ish variety.

My total for the cheeseburger, fries and coke was $7.75. Not worth driving in from far away lands, but not a bad place to step in for some cow when you’re in the neighborhood.
