kasadela - delightful

i've been meaning to post on this for a couple of weeks now. kasadela is a small, trendy yet relaxed izakaya-type spot on e. 11th close to avenue c. on a recent visit, we sampled toasted nori (beautiful, lacy texture, generous portion for $2.50), chicken wings (yummy sauce), sesame custard (made from silken tofu - liked this one a lot), fried oysters (good), and grilled sardines stuffed with roe (too salty - and i can tolerate a lot of salt). we also sampled two different sakes. one was truly excellent but unfortunately i can't remember what it was called. anyway, i normally am not a big sake drinker but i very much liked the offerings here. the service was so nice. i think the bill was around $80 for 2. this is a great little spot. we will definitely go back. afterwards we tried to get dessert at chickalicious but skipped it because of insanely long lines. we went to cones instead and had the dark chocolate and pistachio gelati - both were great.
