I'm posting this thread just in case anyone even remotely considers having a burger at Juniors.
We were in Brooklyn today, making our way down to either the Cocoa Bar or the Chocolate Room in Park Slope, by way of Atlantic St, and decided to stop by Juniors as neither my fiance nor I had ever been there. I think we went in with the wrong intentions, instead of looking for cheesecake we were craving burgers (and had just missed the 3pm cut off at Peter Lugers).
We both ordered the steak burger, medium for her, medium well for me, and matzoh ball soup. The matzoh ball soup was good, a salty vegetable stock soup with a large soft ball, and the corn bread that came along with everything was nice and sweet. Twenty minutes into picking at the pickles and bread, our burgers finally arrived. Even before he set my plate down, the completely black charred hockey puck gave itself away as a non-winner. There was no moisture whatsoever, it was like eating either a brick of dried clay, a Seely mattress thats been left out in the sun, or bland, dried, bread crumbs mashed together. There was no seasoning, not even salt or pepper which I did add, it was terrible.
My fiance's burger was nearly raw, and unevenly so. Parts of it were as dry and grey as mine, and others were bright pink. We ended up leaving most of it, doubtful that if we took it to go that even someone homeless would have wanted it.
27 bucks for the burgers and soup. That's probably three burgers at Shake Shack or the Burger Joint, or two burgers from Rare. The cost of having bad food is just too high these days.
So - that all having been said, and prefacing this with the fact that we will never set foot in Juniors again, where did we go wrong, what should we have ordered other than the cheesecake ?
