When Covid-19 ended dine-in services, Michelin one-star Jū-ni was quick to regroup to offer take-away chirashi bowls, $39, beginning March 19. Last month after picking up yakitori at its sister restaurant, Hina https://www.chowhound.com/post/hina-y... , I ordered from Jū-ni around the corner as well. Not able to find a nearby parking space, I double-parked in front of the restaurant, called, and a staffer brought out my order and put it in the back seat of the car for me.

Jū-ni's to-go menu of chirashi, desserts, sake and beer are available for pick-up or in-house delivery. As noted in my Hina Yakitori post, the online ordering system worked smoothly and the notification system was useful.

Jū-ni's style of chirashi cuts the fish and tamago into small cubes. This lends itself to a more scattered assembly and colorful appearance. And it also felt like it took longer to eat the smaller morsels. An uni supplement is available, but I was glad that I did not add it, as the basic chirashi bowl included some uni. IIRC, the fish were hamachi, maguro, Hokkaido scallop, lightly dressed sweet crab, ikura, salmon belly, tai, and some other white fleshed fish. No chewies or cooked shrimp, which was fine with me. I particularly liked the variety of pickles included that added crunchy contrast in texture and sour-saltiness and the grated wasabi. And I was pleased that it was packaged in a compostable bowl.

I was pretty happy with this chirashi, the value, and would order from Jū-ni again.
