Joyful Garden last night

Went to Joyful Garden last night on whim while I was coming down with a cold and seeked the comfort of some cantonese homestyle cooking.

Our default has been Shangri-La in Belmont, but I did miss some Cantonese style dishes that also were not as spicy--plus we love Shangri-La but had been there 6 times in the past month haha

Joyful Garden is definitely a find in a Days Inn--would never have though of going if I hadnt read about it on Chowhound and heard some other business school people mention it.

We've driven by it a bunch of times but finally got to try it last night!

I would have to say--I wish I could get them to make an english version of the Chinese menu--since not much appealed to us on the english menu.

Thankfully we had a sweet waitress willing to help us explore the chinese menu, but it's still much better being able to read everything since oftentimes, we dont get cravings for something until we see it on the menu or are reminded of it.

We ordered

--Seabass Cantonese Style with GInger and Scallions and Soy Sauce

--Beef and Cilantro soup

--Tofu with Seafood in a huge steamer pot

--Honey Walnut Shrimp

Everything was delicious, and I hadn't actually had much Chinese seafood in awhile so it really hit home, and while nothing was spicy, it was all very well-seasoned and tasty.

The seabass was fresh and swimming still when we first entered and prepared nicely--not overcooked.

The Honey Walnut Shrimp was delicious and I love mayo and they put pineapple in there too so it was a nice touch!

If anyone has a translation out there on the Chinese menu for Joyful Garden, we'd be eternally grateful! :)
