Joy Luck downhill alert

heidipie | Dec 1, 200404:18 PM     5

There were six of us for lunch at noon today, and it would've been a long wait at Yo Ho. There were big tables sitting empty at Joy Luck, which should have spoken for itself, but we decided to give it a try anyway. No items were actually icky, but nothing sang, either. The forcemeat in the rice noodle roll was very pedestrian; the sesame balls (and the ones with the same wrapper but a ground meat filling) were darn greasy; the b.b.sauce spare ribs were meaty, but congealed and watery-tasting. The selection was still pretty broad, and we got to sample a great many things and get very full for very little, but we left feeling merely full rather than thrilled.
